Welcome! This is an official application for a California Concealed Carry Weapon license. You must completely and accurately fill-out this application to be considered for a Concealed Carry Weapon License. Any falsification of the information within this application is a crime and will result in the denial of the applicant’s Concealed Carry Weapon license request.
Authority
California Penal Code section 26155 provides that the Chief of Police of the City of Walnut Creek shall issue or renew alicense to carry a pistol, revolver, or other firearm capable of being concealed upon the person (Concealed Carry Weapon license).
Who Shall be Issued a CCW License
The Chief of Police for the Walnut Creek Police Department shall issue a license to persons who:
- Are not a disqualified person to receive such a license, as determined in accordance with the standards set forth in Penal Code section 26202; and
- Are at least 21 years of age; and
- Are residents of the City of Walnut Creek, or have their principal place of employment or business in the City of Walnut Creek and spend a substantial amount of time in that place of employment or business; and
- Have completed the required course of training, as described in Penal Code section 26165; and
- Are the recorded owner, with the Department of Justice, of the pistol, revolver, or other firearm for which the license will be issued.
The Chief of Police for the Walnut Creek Police Department shall issue a license to persons who:
- Are not a disqualified person to receive such a license, as determined in accordance with the standards set forth in Penal Code section 26202; and
- Are at least 21 years of age; and
- Have been deputized or appointed as a peace officer pursuant to Penal Code section 830.6, subdivisions (a) or (b) by that sheriff or that chief of police or other head of a municipal police department; and
- Are the recorded owner, with the Department of Justice, of the pistol, revolver, or other firearm for which the license will be issued, or are authorized to carry a firearm that is registered to the agency for which the licensee has been deputized or appointed to serve as a peace officer.
The Chief of Police for the Walnut Creek Police Department shall issue a license to residents of U.S. States and territories, other than California, only if the applicant is not otherwise prohibited from possessing firearms under federal or California law. Please note, out of state applicants must apply with the California jurisdiction in which they intend to spend time within the subsequent 12 months, and they must attest to that intention under oath.
Every applicant for an initial CCW license will be fingerprinted and state and federal records will be checked to determine if the applicant is eligible to possess, receive, own, or purchase firearms under state and federal law. Format and Duration of a Concealed Carry Weapon License
A California Concealed Carry Weapon allows a person to carry a pistol, revolver, or other firearm capable of being concealed upon the person. A Standard Concealed Carry Weapon license is valid for 2 years and requires the completion of an annual 8-hour firearms training course prior to renewal.
